With 875 career games, three Selke trophies and a Stanley Cup ring on his resume, Jere Lehtinen officially announced his retirement Wednesday in a statement released by the Dallas Stars.
The Panthers were able to find center Steven Reinprecht a new place to play on Wednesday—they loaned him out after he agreed to a deal with Germany’s Adler Mannheim.
Reinprecht signed a three-year deal with the Panthers in 2009 and will likely be traded or bought out in the offseason.
Florida put Reinprecht on waivers last week after trying to trade him for much of the season.
Panthers television analyst and former winger Bill Lindsay played in Germany and thinks Reinprecht will be a good fit for that style of play.
“That’s going to be awesome for him. It’s going to suit his style and his talent will be superior in many ways there,” Lindsay said. “He’s going to be the guy over there.”
