Quebec City is on the verge of being one step closer to adding and NHL team.
QMI Agency is reporting that Quebec Premier Jean Charest will meet with Quebec City mayor Regis Labeaume next Tuesday to talk about the financing for a new arena.
The report states that Charest will then announce that the province will put up $400 million to help pay for the facility.
A new arena is the key for a NHL return to the provincial capital as NHL commissioner Gary Bettman has said the project would need to be completed before the league puts a team back in Quebec City.

The NHL has come down hard on the New Jersey Devils for deliberately circumventing the league's salary cap in their original attempt to sign forward Ilya Kovalchuk.
The league announced in a press release Monday that they have fined the Devils $3 million and that the club will forfeit their third-round draft choice in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft as well as a first-round draft choice in one of the next four NHL Entry Drafts.
